A new charitable and scientific foundation has been created to serve the interests of the aluminium extrusion industry. The Extrusion Technology for Aluminium profiles Foundation (ET Foundation) has been established by the Aluminium Extruders Council (AEC) to develop, promote, provide and fund education and research related to aluminium extrusion process and technology.Some of the programmes previously undertaken by the AEC will now be conducted by the ET Foundation, among them the Aluminium Extrusion Design Competition and the International Aluminium Extrusion Technology Seminars. 'Creating a foundation affords us, as an industry, the opportunity to convey the advantages of aluminium extrusion in a more effective manor,' explained Board of Trustees Chairman Martin Bidwell. 'The Foundation will serve to educate students, product designers, specifiers and others on the unique benefits of aluminium,' he continued.
