摘要

The aim of the work was to characterize degradation of historical materials, particularly the building ceramics, by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Patina formed on historical limestone and sandstone tombs was subjected to the analysis. The effects of deformation of the historical stained-glass windows were also studied. Corrosion of the ceramic materials was also simulated in the laboratory conditions. The FTIR measurements were performed in the 400-4000 cm1 range. The FTIR results have been confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) combined with X-ray microanalysis (EDX).
