Measurements of alpha particles and protons in laserhyphen;driven fusion studies

A timehyphen;ofhyphen;flight detector employing magnetic deflection was used to measure agr; particles and protons from fusion reactions generated by laser implosion of microshells containing a mixture of deuterium and tritium gases. The densityhyphen;radius product of the imploded microshell and the ion temperature of the thermonuclear fuel are estimated from the measurements.
