摘要

Coil coating is a continuous strip coating technology, which enjoyed rapid growth, and nowadays paints of different nature are applied on a range of metal substrates for several markets. In this work, three different coil coatings, namely polyurethane, polyester and plastisol-based coatings of a blue colour, were studied. These coatings have been exposed in two environments with high U.V. radiation (natural and artificial) and their colour change, gloss reduction and chalking were evaluated. Chemical changes on exposed surfaces were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). For polyurethane and polyester coatings, good correlation was found between the results obtained for both considered environments.
