Weld Repair of Thermal Spray Formed Tools

摘要

Processes to field repair thermal spray steel tools are required before steel spray tooling will be adopted in production molding plants. The goal of this paper is to explore repairing tools using traditional die repair techniques and equipment. We will discuss the procedure and results of a Design of Experiment used to optimize welding parameters. We will also discuss results of field trials of the repaired tools and the lessons learned from this experiment.
