The pitch of the Great Lakes St Lawrence Seaway (GLSLS) is familiar to most Canadian shippers. It provides a water-based link into and out of North America's heartland. It has plenty of capacity, unlike the traffic-choked highway and rail infrastructure of Ontario and Quebec. It's cheaper than other modes, and also more environmentally friendly, with better emissions-per-tonne ratings. And it's an ideal way to move containers.
