This message was central at Richard Lande's 22nd Annual Transportation Innovation and Cost Saving Conference. The roster of the day-long event was packed with experts willing to share tips on how to save money, tighten operations and successfully adapt to change. Kevin McCarthy, director of logistics services with CH Robinson Worldwide, presented a list of factors shippers can measure to reduce transportation spend, including the optimal cube and weight of each truckload, historical truckload costs and mode optimization. "Most people don't do a good job of measuring what they put on a truck," he said. "But if you aren't measuring, you'll never get there."
