Studies were made of relationships between digestibility and leaf characteristics of Dactylis glomerata cv. Lude and tall fescue [Festuca arundinacea] cv. Clarine grown near Toulouse, France, pot-grown D. glomerata and F. rubra, and of 4 permanent pastures differing widely in botanical composition at 1250 m alt. in the Central Pyrenees. Leaf digestibility was negatively correlated with specific leaf weight for all species and communities, digestibility of D. glomerata being significantly higher than that of the other 2 species.
