Apprentice Metallurgist becomes 2005 Metals Industry Apprentice of the Year

The 2005 Metals Industry Apprentice of the Year has been announced as nineteen year old James Ayabina, an apprentice metallurgist at Sheffield Forgemasters Engineering. James received his title, together with the prize of a 1,000 punds personal laptop computer, at The Court Dinner of award sponsors The Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers, at the Armoury House in the City of London on 5 May. The Metals Industry Apprentice of the Year is a prestigious award, designed and co-ordinated by the metals industry's skills body, MetSkill, to help recognise the vital business-contribution and outstanding career achievements made by apprentices in the metals industry. Highlighting achievers such as James is critical in an industry that needs to attract and recruit 10,000 people each year, to replace the skills of people retiring from the industry.
