High volume, top quality mixers

Simpson Technologies Corporation has been awarded a contract to provide eight of its core sand mixers for the precision sand project at General Motors Powertrain (CMPT) Saginaw Metal Casting Operations (SMCO) in Saginaw, USA. The precision sand project will produce engine block castings for GM's next generation GEN IV aluminium V-8 engines. These new engines, which will power future trucks, are planned for the second half of 2006. The precision sand process involves producing a resin bonded sand mould and cores, this process allowing the use of cast in place iron liners, pressurised aluminium filling, and produces a casting with a high degree of dimensional accuracy, thin cross sections, and near net shape.
