Ertsenmaalderij DE BRUYN started in 1898 in Schoten and had its activities there until December 2002. Until after World War I the activities consisted in drying various products for industry and agriculture. In the twenties, grinding and trading in silica sand became the core business and fro there rose the relationship with the foundry industry. In 1957, the production of resin coated sand started, followed in 1967 by the processing of chromite sand. Ertsenmaalderij DE BRUYN then became one of the major processors of chromite sand for the foundry and refractory purpose on the European continent.
