The environmental performance improvements attained by Honda from the conversion to this process have been significant. Core and casting quality levels have also been elevated, and sleeve core productivity increased. Equally important to Honda was the positive impact that the change to this cleaner core process had upon its associates-their reaction was over-whelmingly positive. Associates in the sleeve core department and nearby areas are pleased with the removal of toxic materials from their work environment, the elimination of unpleasant fugitive orders and the need to wear cumbersome respirators during maintenance activities. While conversion of sleeve core production to the Resin-CO{sub}2 process required change and a strong commitment by Honda AEP's management, associates and suppliers, the benefits attained have justified the time and effort.
