摘要

Results of studies on new formulae and instruments for grading of swine carcasses are discussed in relation to value-based marketing. The currently valid estimation equations (for the AutoFOM I instrument) gave results differing substantially from reference values. Different genetic types of swine were the main problem; they have different morphological characteristics which limit value based marketing based on morphometric methods. For both lean meat and primal cuts, estimation bias is low between sexes and between grading instruments. In a field trial comparing AutoFOM I and AutoFOM III instruments these 2 instruments were found to give acceptable agreement. [See FSTA 2011-08-Sj2700 for Part I.]
