Indigenous technology development aids utilisation of oil for direct consumption

Speaking on trends in processing of rice bran oil,Mr.A.R.Sharma,CMD,A.P.Solvex Ltd.(Punjab),informed that in the early-80s,the Government introduced a money credit scheme to encourage the use of rice bran oil as a product mix in vanaspati (hy-drogenated fat),wherein substantial rebate from the payment of excise duty on vanaspati was given.This encouraged production of edible grade rice bran oil,containing low levels of free fatty acid (FFA) (between 2-5).
