QS and the veterinary administration - what partnership is conceivable?

The interaction between the QS quality control system and the German official veterinary administation in meat hygiene and safety is discussed. Topics considered include: crisis management; measures for minimization of zoonoses; Salmonella monitoring in agriculture; Salmonella control in slaughterhouses; bacteriological monitoring of carcasses; information provision for the food chain; risk oriented meat inspection; neutral audits; official monitoring; and possible future developments.
