Care homes in Scotland should receive regular advice from a pharmacist on using medicines safely, appropriately and cost-effectively, according to a report published last week by the Care Commission (Scotland's care services regulator) and the Mental Welfare Commission for Scodand. The report recommends that health boards should consider introducing regular visits from pharmacists to improve medicines management in care homes.
