The treatment of hallux valgus syndrome with scarf, Akin and Weil osteotomy

For the surgical treatment of the hallux valgus syndrome of the forefoot the "harmonising realignment" which consists of scarf, Akin and Weil osteotomy, is becoming widely established. This surgery is technically demanding and requires intensive training. Meticulous soft tissue-balancing as well as precise osteotomy techniques are prerequisite for good results with this combined technique. The analysis of 135 scarf osteotomies shows mainly good results with a success rate of 77%.
