摘要

Advances in cutting tools are driving increased productivity at metalworking operations across the country.Tooling research and development supports more productive turning operations. Most manufacturers of carbide cutting tools used in turning operations want more wear resistant carbide grades and enhanced tool geometries. These improvements can increase quality and productivity.As feed and machine rates have increased, a number of restraints have been encountered, such as excessive speedups that endanger the operator. Speed also can be damaging to the machines by subjecting them to stresses beyond their intended capacity.
