WITH the appreciation that the majority of people produce their best work when they perform together, the Queensland Manufacturing Institute's (QMI) new Silicon Graphics reality centre is expected to save millions of dollars in the development of new Australian products. Due to be officially opened early this year, the sophisticated reality centre is the latest and the most accessible in Australia, with the other 15 or so held by private companies or secret government defence organisations. The front end of the 3m dollars centre is a theatre-style room seating 25 people. Multiple projectors create a single 3D digital image of a design, or other data, that is displayed on a large seven metre by three metre wrap-around screen.
