Skunk Buit & bait Station Study (and related activities)

Unfortunately the application was rejected. One of the reasons was the "rationale was not deemed sufficient". This is discouraging, and represents a significant challenge for any future skunk control product applications. A plan was already in place to do some research in the fall (2011), so we proceeded. The goal of the fall (2011) research was to look at baits, bait stations, and new products, to control skunks - while minimizing/eliminating the impact on other (non-target) animals that may be found in a bee yard. The ideal solution should be effective, humane, pose low risk to non-target animals, be easy and safe to handle, and work as part of an integrated pest management strategy. The new products didn't arrive until Oct. 18th (from Connovationin New Zealand) so we didn't have time to study them unfortunately.
