Sticking with a homegrown approach

A RECENT invitation to address the ceremonial sitting of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission to celebrate the Centenary of Federation, and the Commission's role since Federation, provided an opportunity to express some of the values Al Group believes are important in our industrial relations system.It is no surprise that the States, in drafting the Constitution creating the Commonwealth Parliament, placed significant restrictions on its industrial relations powers. They established a uniquely Australian IR system built around the principles of conciliation and arbitration.
