The gross chemical composition of grains from single- and double-crosses grown at the Instituto de Genetica Dr. E.A. Favret (IGEAF-INTA Castelar) during the 2010/11 growing season was determined using an infrared spectrophotometer model Foss In-fratec1241 Grain Analyzer to quantify through a non-destructive assay protein content (%), starch content (%), and oil content (%). Analyses were performed on two 60 g grain samples of each genotype obtained by hand pollination to prevent contamination and xenia effect particularly on oil content. These results were averaged to obtain the final values and to complete others published previously (see MNL 83:12-13, 2009).
