10 Critical Success Factors - for the implementation of asset management systems

The integrity, safety and reliable operation of high value assets are common requirements shared by many industries. It follows, therefore, that a well implemented asset management system is an essential part of business fabric for all industrial organisations. This paper draws on over fifty years of combined asset management implementation experience to present ten factors which are critical in order to achieve a successful asset management implementation. It will be of particular interest to those who are planning to implement a new asset management system and to their senior IT colleagues with whom they are working. The paper is product-agnostic and many of the factors discussed would be applicable to the implementation of any suitable enterprise asset management (EAM) system. Although it is written in the context of the energy and utilities industries, the general principles can De applied to implementing asset management systems in many other industries.
