To the Editor: A 48-yr-old lady with poorly differentiated metastatic ovarian carcinoma was admitted to the intensive care unit with acute respiratory failure following a platelet transfusion for chemotherapy-induced thrombocyto-penia. She had been admitted to the hospital two days prior with neutropenic sepsis after her third cycle of carboplatin and doxorubicin chemotherapy.
