Second season for fruit packing co-op

Other growers invited to make use of the facilities VIRGIL, Ontario — A year-old fruit packing co-operative of growers with small farms is inviting others to make use of their facilities. The Niagara Fruit Farmers Cooperative Inc. was set up in 1995to allow its members to take advantage of current trends in fruit packing. The group purchased a weight-sizing, washer and packing line. While the plumbing and electrical work was completed by contractors, the members took care of the rest to keep costsdown. "We did most of the installation work ourselves," said NFFC president Marc Hamelin. This year, the co-op purchased a new return flow system and more bulk bins will soon be required.
