摘要

The year 1995 was a period of "generally good news" for producers and marketers of tender fruit in Ontario. That's the assessment of Pieter Buis, chairman of the Ontario Tender Fruit Producers' Marketing Board, in his annual report to growers. "Our peach crop was a good one in terms of production, quality and prices," he said, "Plums for fresh market were equally positive and prices for pears were up from past years. However it wasn't all good news for '95. Buis noted the pear crop was well below normal "and the tonnage available for processing was one of the smallest on record." As for sour cherries, the crop "stood out as a disaster in all respects."
