At the recent Ontario Horticultural Crops Conference held in Toronto, Dr. Lee Reich of New York, held a seminar on Hardy Kiwifruit. As the name indicates, the Hardy Kiwifruit is able to withstand the winters and shorter growing seasons of Canada, in particular, Ontario. Reich and grower Paul Klaussen are enthusiastic about its potential. They both recommend Ananasnaya, a variety from Russia known as 'Anna' "This variety can withstand our temperatures," Klaussen said. He recommends them in southern Ontario, especially the Kitchener and Guelph areas.
