Thank you for your interest in the management of our patient with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). We would like to clarify some details concerning our case. Our patient was severely affected by her disease. She had absolutely no movement in her spine and had difficulty walking or sitting up from the supine position. She was diagnosed with AS in 2005, but her symptoms began at least ten years earlier. An ultrasound of her lower back, performed when she was first seen at our antenatal clinic, showed extreme narrowing of her lumbar vertebral spaces and no scoliosis.
