An earlier name for Warnstorfia austro-straminea (Musci, Amblystegiaceae)

Warnstorfia austro-straminea (C. Muell. in Neum.) Ochyra is an austral amphipacific species with maximum of occurrence on the subantarctic island of South Georgia and in the northern maritime Antarctic (Greene 1986) where it is a common constituent ofcommunities of the moss carpet and mat subformation (Longton 1979). Additionally, the species is known from a few widely distributed but scattered localities in more northerly latitudes in Tierra del Fuego (Bartram 1946) and Prov. de Aisen in West Patagonia, Chile (Seki 1974) in southern South America, as well as from the South Island of New Zealand (Bartlett 1984). For a long time the species was placed in the genus Calliergidium Grout as C. austro-stramineum (C. Muell. in Neum.) Bartr., but Ochyra (1996) showed that the species is a member of the genus Warnstorfia Loeske.
