If the name Wanzl is not a familiar one, then take a closer look the next time you find yourself pushing a shopping trolley around a supermarket. Founded in 1918 by Rupert Wanzl Snr, the company introduced the original shopping trolley around 1950. It now manufactures more than 7,000 daily, using some 7.5 million metres of tube a year in the process. Wanzl also manufactures significant numbers of luggage trolleys. Indeed, the company supplied some 11,000 luggage trolleys to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris in 2003 - the largest order ever placed by an international airport!
