New equipment: New additive-manufacturing machines available soon

A new additive-manufacturing (AM) machine for producing parts from metal powder - layer by layer - was launched recently by Warwick-based EOS Electro Optical System Ltd (www.eos.info). The EOS M 400 is the first of a new generation; it builds on established metal AM machines in the company's range and will be available in the spring. The modular, extendable platform is aimed at 'volume' production applications, as the increased volume of the build chamber - 400 × 400 × 400mm - allows the manufacture of larger components or more smaller parts. In addition, the automation being incorporated will support serial production.
