Cinclidium stygium (Musci, Mniaceae) in Uruguay

Cinclidium stygium Sw., a bipolar moss species, circumpolar in the Northern Hemisphere and scattered in the southernmost tip of South America, is recorded for the first time from Uruguay. This is the northernmost occurrence of this species in South America, Habitat details are described. It is suggested that this locality should be protected.
