A new species of Physogyne (Orchidaceae, Spiranthinae) from the State of Colima in western Mexico

Physogyne garayana R. Gonzalez T. & Szlach. is described from material collected in the State of Colima in western Mexico. It differs from the two previously known species of the genus by its unilateral, very long and dense inflorescence, broader leaves, branched nerves in the bracts, densely glandular ovaries, shape and proportion of the lip, reflexed lamina, wide, trans-versally elliptic stigmatic surface, larger, narrowly triangular anther and acute lateral sepals. A key to the species of the genus Physogyne is provided.
