Five-axis machining - Investment in new equipment provides improved quality and shorter lead times

In February 2007, the Gosport-based sub-contractor Norjon Engineers doubled its annual turnover to more than ￡1 million, by acquiring the order book of a local business that specialised in the production of thermoforming moulds for the food industry. Kevin Fox, Norjon's owner and managing director, decided to invest in new machine tools to produce the aluminium moulds, because he wanted to improve their quality and shorten their delivery times to manufacturers of thermoformed plastic packaging (such as yoghurt pots, trays and disposable cups).
