Membership

The membership numbers have been declining steadily over the last couple of years with a significant shortfall in two categories, the Regular and Associate Memberships. Our total number of members has dropped thirty-three from last year and eighty-one from 2003. The Membership Committee has worked closely with Section Directors: detailed listings have been created and sent to each Section in the hopes of persuading unpaid members to pay their dues before June 1st. This was also done last year and resulted in approximately thirty members deciding to remain ASGS Members. Three of the contributing factors which have helped in retaining members for this year have been the interest in purchasing the Library of Proceedings and Fusion Archives, the upcoming 50th Anniversary Symposium and the continued success of the Corporate Membership which totaled fifty-two members in 2005. Even though our existing member numbers are down, we have had a growth of approximately thirty-one new and returning members for 2005 thus far.
