Mechatronics in agricultural machinery

Agricultural machinery is being revolutionised through the advent of mechatronics. New systems relieve farmers of demanding control tasks, offer a higher level of convenience, increase working speed, improve ploughing quality, and reduce operating costs. Pottinger Maschinenfabrik GesmbH, manufacturers of agricultural machinery, co-operated with mechatronics experts from the University of Linz to design a new generation of ploughs the SERVO intelligent electronic plough. For this product, the mechanical engineering company, based in Upper Austrian Grieskirchen, was awarded the Innovation Prize 2002 by the Province of Upper Austria.
