Electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) are electrochemical capacitors with relatively high energy density that store the charge at the electrode-electrolyte interface through reversible ion adsorption at high-surface-area porous carbon electrodes.1 Porous carbons have shown excellent electrochemical performance as EDLC electrode materials as a result of the reversible ion adsorption onto porous carbon electrodes and their high surface area, electrical conductivity, chemical stability, and low cost. Therefore, various types of porous carbons, such as carbon aerogels, carbon fibers, graphite nano-fibers, mesoporous carbons, carbon nanotubes, and graph-ene, are widely used as electrodes materials for EDLCs.
