Boron medicinal chemistry and synthetic aspects

The progress of boron chemistry is not entirely accidental. Its success in small-molecule therapeutics, which has led to boron-containing drugs entering the market, can be attributed to years of dedicated work, which has stimulated advances in theoretical, synthetic organic and inorganic chemistry, as well as materials science and structural/molecular biology, including x-ray crystallography. In this article, we will highlight just a handful of reasons as to why there is continued growth and interest in boron chemistry.
