First Deco 20s goes to UK sub-contractor

BTMA member WML Engineering is the world's first buyer of Tornos' new Deco 20s sliding-head machine (see Machinery, June 2005, page 25). WML serves the medical, electronic, automotive and general sub-contract sectors and has competed for batch runs of 500-plus, but was missing out on small batch work. With the new machine, it can now also compete successfully for runs of 25,50 and 100 upwards. "The changing marketplace meant that we were missing out on small jobs that often came with larger contracts. This will not now happen with the Oeco 20s in place," explains WML director Jason Meir.
