Bigger than BIG: Ford's all-new F450 tows almost 25,000 Ib, making it a handy tool, but one not euery logger needs

Most would agree that Ford's Super Duty trucks are designed for a specialized market. Yet few suspect that this market niche is made up of over 300,000 buyers, all of whom will be ordering one of a whole new line of trucks that Ford displayed recentlyin Las Vegas. That's a big niche, and for those customers the debut of the all-new 2008 Super Duties is a big story. Introduced in 1999, the Super Duty line consisted of the F250 and F350 pickups and larger chassis-cab-only trucks that traditionally appealed to working fleet customers. But, since that introduction recreational haulers have steadily been outgrowing the one-ton F-350; a niche within this niche that now accounts for around 30% of total Super Duty sales. In fact, it's this group (and the ever increasing size of their recreational trailers) that Ford says heavily influenced their decision to build a new F450 pickup that will tow over 11,000 kg (24,000 Ib).
