摘要

After compiling the data from the Provincial Associate Surveys, it became clear that whether or not 2014 was a good or bad year for associate veterinarians depended heavily on where in Canada associates were practicing.Comparing compensation is tricky because "compensation" involves 3 factors: hours worked, salary, and benefits. To simplify the comparison, this article focuses on reports of median annual salary and median hours worked (Table 1). Information on benefitscan be found in the "Report on Compensation and Benefits" for each province. An additional figure, "calculated wage" was used to account for different hours worked. The calculated wage is simply the annual salary divided by annual hours worked.
