My personal “Functional Neurology adventure”, which began in 2005 when I took over as Editor-in-Chief for two mandates, has now come to its natural conclusion and the time has come to pass the baton to our Associate Editor, Prof. Egidio Ugo D’Angelo, a friend and esteemed scientist. It was the wish of Prof. Giuseppe Nappi, the founder of Functional Neurology, that I be given the scientific direction of the journal. Professor Nappi understood that, in a world driven by the internet, it was necessary to review and update the editorial policy, steering the journal towards the emerging field of the neurosciences, in particular the interventional neurosciences and interventional neuroimaging, which are my main areas of interest and the reason why my academic career path led me from Rome to Pavia.
