IFT: A Glimpse at Tomorrows Shopping Cart

Food professionals from around the world gathered in New Orleans for the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) 2014 Annual Meeting + Food Expo this past June 21, making this year's event a huge success. Attracting more than 16,400 registrants, the expo floor featured 1,120 exhibitors. There were more than 100 educational sessions and 1,000 poster sessions that provided information on the latest developments and trends in food science.When you analyze all the innovations and technological breakthroughs displayed at the show, one gets a glimpse of what the retail landscape will look like in a few years. Indeed, with a little fine tuning and commercial scale-up, many of this year's prototypes will find their way into tomorrow's shopping cart.
