The preparation of semiconducting thin films for solarcells has been attempted by means of a spray pyrolysis deposition(SPD) technique using a simple apparatus with good productivity.Transparent and conductive tin(IV) oxide thin films were depositedfrom the ethanol solution of di-n-butyltin(IV) diacetate. Aqueoussolutions, including copper(II) acetate with glucose and tin(II)chloride with thiourea as sprayed solutions, were used for cuprousoxide and tin(II) sulfide thin films, respectively. An unknown-phasethin film was obtained under the specific conditions of both thesolution concentration and deposition temperature from the samestarting solution for tin(II) sulfide thin film. The unknown phasewas identified as a new compound of tin(II) oxysulfide (Sn_2OS)with a cubic crystal lattice.
