The following are excerpts from a presentation by Chris Mitchler, chairperson of the National Food Committee of the Consumers' Association of Canada (CAC), delivered to delegates attending the annual meeting of AGCare (Agricultural Groups Concerned About Resources and the Environment, Inc.). The focus of the meeting was on biotechnology. The CAC, founded in 1947, is a national association of volunteers dedicated to bringing the interests and concerns of consumers to the attention of government, industry and other interest groups. It is a national newsletter is distributed to more than 250,000 Canadian consumers five times a year.
