Farmers not big contributors to RRSPs

Those involved in agriculture deposit less into RRSPs than their counterparts in other sectors of the workforce In 1994, some 27 per cent of Canadian farmers contributed an average of 4,072 dollar each to a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP). This article discusses the way Canadian farmers use RRSPs and compares them to other categories of workers. In the 1994 tax year, Canadian farmers had the second lowest rate of RRSP participation (27 per cent). Only fishermen (25 per cent) exhibited a lower rate.
