Notes on gastropod taxa (Mollusca) introduced by Millet de la Turtaudière (1827-1866), with an analysis of their possible validity today, with an additional note on the publication date of Nyst ('1881')

In the preparation of a series of papers monographing the upper Miocene-Pleistocene gastropods of north-western France, previously attributed to the geological period hitherto known as the 'Redonian' (see Van Dingenen et al., 2015),we came across some confusion in the literature concerning the availability of names and dates of publication for papers authored by Millet de la Turtaudière and Nyst. In this note we draw attention to the specific gastropod taxa erected by Millet (but similar notes will presumably be necessary for other fossil groups in Millet's work), the date they were introduced and their availability, as well as correcting the date of publication for Nyst's 'Conchyliologie des terrains tertiaires de la Belgique, 1. Terrain Pliocene Scaldisien.'
