U.S.fuel cell bus projects seek higher efficiency,emissions reductions in transit service

The U.S.Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration(FTA)is funding the four-year,49 million National Fuel Cell Bus Technology Development Program through 2009.Performance objectives include design and operation of a fuel cell bus that costs no more than five times that of a commercial transit bus,and offers 20,000 to 30,000 hours of durable operation of the propulsion system.
