The airborne cooling chain has finally been closed

Over 500 airlines worldwide have almost 11,000 aeroplanes taking to the air, of which 1,500 are freight aeroplanes with a total capacity of 70,000 tonnes (Fruit World 4-2003). Depending on the source used, 19-25 million tonnes of air freight are transported annually, 2.5-3 million tonnes of which are perishable goods. Here the trend is towards temperature-controlled transport with documentation of the temperature from start to finish.
