Strong demand for organic produce in the us

Sales of organic produce in the United States increased 12 % to US$ 8.7 billion in 2009. A further rise to nearly $10 billion is expected for 2010. Fruits and vegetables grown according to the strict guidelines for organic food have a strong demand, especially from some urban residents under 50 years of age. They are often willing to pay about a fifth more for fresh organic produce than that for conventional products.
